How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Astute's Nuclear Team is partnering with a global leader in cable and pipe sealing solutions with a strong customer-focused culture and commitment to innovation, to recruit an External Technical Sales Manager for its National (UK) territory.

    The External Technical Sales Manager role comes with a salary of £45,000-£65,000, a quarterly bonus of 20-40%, company car, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and double pay on every third-year anniversary.

    Responsibilities and duties of the External Technical Sales Manager role

    Reporting to the Sales Management Team you will:

    Identify and develop opportunities across industrial markets including rolling stock, heavy vehicle OEMs, heavy machinery and defence.
    Build relationships with owners, operators, engineers, contractors and resellers to generate specifications and drive sales.
    Identify, quantify and target projects from initial opportunity through to specification.
    Develop new business opportunities from a cold start while maintaining existing customer relationships.
    Deliver technical presentations, installation training and solution support to specifying engineers.
    Drive sustainable sales growth by securing engineering specifications throughout the project lifecycle.
    Create and execute targeted sales plans and manage customer interactions through the CRM system.
    Provide pre-sales technical advice and support, including bespoke product design input where required.
    Attend industry events and network to identify new business opportunities.
    Provide market intelligence, forecasting and product planning feedback to management.Professional qualifications

    We are looking for someone with the following:

    University degree or equivalent, or significant industry experience in a similar technical sales role.
    Proven experience selling complex or technical solutions to engineers and decision-makers.
    Strong business development experience with the ability to generate and convert new opportunities.
    Existing relationships within engineering, contractor, design or owner/operator organisations.
    Knowledge of industrial sectors including civil construction, electrical, controls, automation or mechanical systems.
    Experience managing long-term, technically complex sales projects.
    Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and occasionally internationally.Personal skills
