How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Associate Director Electrical Engineer – Building Services
Manchester | Hybrid Working | Lead the Electrical Team

Don’t look back in anger… look forward and lead something special.

We’re looking for an experienced Associate Director Electrical Engineer to take the lead of a talented Building Services team in Manchester.
This is not a role where you sit quietly in the background, push drawings around and hope nobody notices. This is about leading people, shaping a team, building client relationships and creating something you can genuinely be proud of.

Manchester has always done things its own way. A city that gave the world Oasis, The Stone Roses, New Order and The Smiths doesn’t settle for ordinary — and neither should its engineering teams.

From the Hacienda to the Etihad, from the Northern Quarter to the ever-changing city skyline, Manchester has always been a place where creativity, ambition and a bit of attitude come together.
Now it needs engineering leaders who want to help design the next chapter.
The Opportunity As Associate Director Electrical Engineer, you will:

Lead and develop the Manchester electrical engineering team
Inspire and mentor engineers at all levels
Drive technical excellence and design quality
Build trusted relationships with clients and project partners
Support business development and help secure exciting new work
Play a key role in shaping the future growth of the office
Deliver innovative, sustainable electrical solutions across major projects The Projects You’ll be working on some of the most exciting developments across:
    ✓ Commercial offices
    ✓ High-rise residential
    ✓ Education and universities
    ✓ Healthcare
    ✓ Hotels and leisure
    ✓ Sports and entertainment venues
    ✓ Science and research facilities
✓ Net Zero and sustainable buildings
Manchester is changing faster than a band lineup at the Apollo, with new developments transforming the city every year. This is an opportunity to be part of the team designing what comes next.
About You We’re looking for someone who:

Has a strong Building Services Electrical Engineering background
Has experience leading teams and developing engineers
Enjoys being client-facing and building relationships
Can combine technical excellence with commercial awareness
Wants to influence strategy, not just deliver projects
Is passionate about creating great engineering environments Chartered status (CEng) would be preferred, but personality, leadership and ambition matter just as much.

Why Join? You’ll have the opportunity to join a globally recognised engineering consultancy while having a real impact locally.
You’ll help shape a team, develop future engineers and work on projects that will become part of Manchester’s next generation of landmarks.

Because Manchester has never been about following trends — it has always been about creating them.

If you’re ready to lead a team that brings a bit of Manchester energy to world-class engineering, this could be your next move.
Bonus points if you know your Stone Roses from your Oasis and still believe the 90s produced the best music
