How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Primary Supply Teacher - Northampton
    Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
    Start Date: September 2026
    Contract: Flexible | Day-to-Day, Short-Term & Long-Term Opportunities
Pay: Competitive daily rates, dependent on experience and qualifications

Looking for a teaching role that gives you flexibility without taking you away from the classroom?

Whether you're an experienced Primary Teacher, an Early Career Teacher (ECT), or returning to teaching, supply work offers the opportunity to inspire young learners while choosing the assignments that fit your lifestyle.

We are working with a number of friendly and supportive primary schools across Northampton that are seeking enthusiastic Supply Teachers to join their team from September 2026. With opportunities available across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2, we'll work with you to find placements that match your experience, preferences, and availability.

    Your Role

As a Primary Supply Teacher, you will:

Deliver engaging lessons using plans provided by the class teacher or school

Create a positive and inclusive classroom where pupils feel supported to learn

Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning throughout the school day

Adapt confidently to different year groups, classrooms, and school environments

Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and school leaders

Leave clear feedback for the class teacher at the end of each placement

    We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from candidates who:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

Have experience teaching within UK primary schools

Are confident teaching across EYFS, KS1, or KS2

Can quickly establish positive classroom routines and manage behaviour effectively

Are reliable, adaptable, and passionate about helping children succeed

Enjoy working in a variety of school settings and becoming part of different school communities

    Why Join Us?

Flexible work that fits around your availability

    Competitive daily rates, paid weekly

Opportunities in a wide range of welcoming primary schools across Northampton

    Day-to-day, short-term, and long-term placements available

Ongoing support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant

Access to CPD and training to support your professional development

A great opportunity to broaden your experience while maintaining a healthy work-life balance

Supply teaching is a fantastic way to experience different schools, develop your skills, and continue making a meaningful impact on children's education-without the additional pressures that can come with a permanent class teacher role.

If you're ready to enjoy a flexible teaching career from September 2026, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today to join our growing network of Primary Supply Teachers across Northampton
