How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    English Teacher - Northampton
    Location: Northampton
    Start Date: September 2026
    Contract: Full-Time | Contract or Permanent

    Are you a passionate English Teacher who enjoys bringing literature and language to life? Do you believe every student deserves the opportunity to develop confidence in reading, writing, and communication? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

    We are partnering with a thriving and inclusive secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint an inspiring English Teacher for a September 2026 start. This full-time opportunity is available on either a contract or permanent basis and is ideal for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) eager to begin or continue their teaching journey in a supportive school community.

    The Role

    As an English Teacher, you will:

    Deliver engaging and well-planned English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with Key Stage 5 teaching available for suitable candidates)

    Foster a love of reading through a broad range of classic and contemporary literature

    Develop students' writing, analytical, and communication skills through creative and challenging lessons

    Differentiate learning to ensure every student can achieve their potential, including those with SEND and EAL needs

    Create a positive classroom environment where curiosity, discussion, and independent thinking can flourish

    Assess student progress effectively and provide constructive feedback to drive achievement

    Play an active role within the English department and contribute to enrichment opportunities and the wider life of the school

    About You

    We're looking for someone who:

    Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification)

    Has excellent subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for English Language and Literature

    Delivers engaging lessons that motivate and challenge students of all abilities

    Has strong classroom management skills and consistently high expectations

    Enjoys collaborating with colleagues and is committed to continuous professional development

    Is an ECT or experienced teacher looking to make a positive impact in a supportive school
