How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Our client, who has regional offices throughout the UK, is an award-winning contaminated land remediation contractor who offers practical solutions for brownfield regeneration and contaminated land problems. By using their extensive in-house experience, they aim to provide an unrivalled service tailored to their clients’ individual needs. To date, our client has completed technical projects throughout the UK for local authorities, residential and commercial developers, main contractors and consultants, either in the role of principal contractor or subcontractor, which range from small spills through to large multi-technology soil and groundwater remediation for the preparation of brownfield sites.

Having worked closely with this client for over 8 years, I would highly recommend them as they offer an excellent working environment where they encourage professionals to progress in their careers. Furthermore, with a close management team, the business has the ability to offer a real family feel, assuring that you will be a name rather than just a number within the organisation.

    About the opportunity:

As part of my client’s ongoing expansion and confirmed future workload, they have identified the need to recruit a permanent Remediation Engineer to assist with the technical delivery of remediation and enabling projects. Initial projects will be in the Northwest of England (within commutable distance from Manchester), however, future projects may be further afield, so you must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.

General duties will include the following:

Pre-start organisation & planning of projects:

    Co-ordinating / appointing subcontractors
Assisting with production of remediation strategies, materials management plans, method statements, risk assessments
Assisting with obtaining licences, permits and regulatory approvals including compilation of supporting technical information
Drawings, including basic use of Autocad Delivery of projects:

Working with site personnel to ensure projects are implemented safely
Monitoring environmental emissions and ensuring control measures are implemented where required

Set up, operate and maintain soil and water treatment systems
Carrying out verification contamination sampling, scheduling laboratory analysis and assessing results
Arranging laboratory and site geotechnical / earthworks testing
Waste classification and managing duty of care for disposal
Use of GPS equipment to record and set out basic information
Maintaining and using equipment such as PID, noise meter, CBR probe etc
Ensure site records are kept up to date (e.g. stockpile registers, validation records, sample location drawings)
Overseeing material movements and compliance against the project specification and remediation strategy
Assisting with co-ordinating / appointing subcontractors
Ongoing liaison with clients representatives or third party verification engineers
(Dependent on experience / role) Project management duties including commercial, operational, programming tasks Project close-out:

    Compilation of data and drafts for verification / completion reports, health & safety files etc;
Feedback on project lessons learned, improvements etc.
    About the benefits and rewards:

For this opportunity, my client is targeting professionals who are looking to earn anywhere between £30,000 - £40,000 per annum, however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability.  Furthermore, a generous benefits package will be offered.

In addition to this, excellent career development opportunities within this thriving and expanding business will also be available for the right professional who demonstrates drive and ambition.

    About the requirements:

As a Remediation Engineer, you will ideally hold 2-3 years post-graduate experience in a related discipline, ideally with a significant portion of this time spent on site, carrying out sampling, etc.

Knowledge of soil description, sampling, soil and groundwater remedial approaches, and earthworks practices is desirable, although full training will be provided.

A valid driving license is essential, as the role will involve a reasonable amount of travel.
