How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HR Lead

    London

    £67,674 per annum including London Weighting rising incrementally to £70,065

    The TUC’s mission is to change the world of work for good. This role contributes to ensuring we fulfil that mission when it comes to our own staff throughout their career at the TUC.

    Working as part of a small team, you will provide expert professional advice and operational support across the full employee lifecycle including employee resourcing, employee relations and policy development.

    You’ll also act as systems administrator for our HRIS system including improving processes, analysing data and reporting.

    What key experience, skills, knowledge and understanding do you need?

    * Substantial experience in an HR generalist role including working collaboratively with staff side trade unions

    * Experience of supporting and advising managers on people management issues

    * Proven experience of using Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and other HR data sources to analyse and interpret, identifying emerging trends, understanding barriers and tracking interventions.

    * Experience of employee relations case management.

    * Strong ability to manage multiple priorities within agreed timeframes

    * Sound knowledge of UK employment law, including evolving law, with direct experience of applying this to contracts of employment, handbooks and HR policies ideally in a unionised context

    * Knowledge of HRIS systems and their application

    * Strong team focus and excellent relationship building skills
