How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Behaviour Mentor - SEMH Provisions

    Preston
    £109.85 per day
    Monday to Friday | 8:30am - 3:30pm | Term Time Only
    Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning? Do you have personal or professional experience working with individuals who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
    We are seeking resilient, compassionate and proactive Behaviour Mentors to work within SEMH schools and specialist provisions across the Preston area. This rewarding role involves supporting primary and secondary-aged pupils who require additional behavioural, emotional and social support to help them achieve both inside and outside the classroom.
    Whether your experience comes from education, youth work, care, residential settings, coaching or personal circumstances, we'd love to hear from you.

    The Role

    Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
    Building positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and personal development.
    Supporting pupils to regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour positively.
    Promoting a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
    Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams to implement behaviour support strategies.
    Acting as a positive role model and helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence.

    What We're Looking For

    Personal or professional experience supporting children, young people or adults with SEMH or additional behavioural needs.
    A calm, patient and resilient approach to challenging situations.
    Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
    The ability to remain positive, adaptable and solution-focused.
    A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential.

    Essential Requirements

    An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (UDS), or willingness to apply and pay for a new Enhanced DBS.
    A minimum of two years' employment references.
    The right to work in the UK.

    What We Offer

    £109.85 per day.
    Term-time only working pattern.
    Consistent Monday to Friday hours (8:30am-3:30pm).

    This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date. We deal with teaching placements at Primary, Secondary, Special Education needs and college level as well as support staff positions also within these.
