How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Regulatory Affairs Specialist

    Salary: Competitive

    Location: Carlisle (Hybrid)

    Hours: Full Time, Permanent

    The Opportunity

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly successful manufacturing business looking to appoint a Regulatory Affairs Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation that places a strong emphasis on innovation, quality and continuous improvement, offering genuine opportunities for long-term career development.

Working as part of a collaborative technical team, you'll play a key role in ensuring products remain compliant with UK and international regulatory requirements while supporting new product development and business growth.

    The Role

You'll be the subject matter expert for Regulatory Affairs, providing practical guidance across the business to ensure products meet all relevant legislative and customer requirements.

Working closely with colleagues across Technical, R&D, Production, Procurement and Commercial teams, you'll interpret evolving regulations, assess product compliance and provide solutions that support both compliance and commercial objectives.

The business is looking for someone with a naturally analytical mindset who enjoys solving problems. Rather than simply identifying obstacles, you'll be someone who looks for practical, compliant solutions and finds a route to "yes" wherever possible.

    Key Responsibilities

Provide regulatory advice on food contact materials, packaging legislation and wider product compliance.

Monitor changes in UK and international regulations, assessing their impact on products and the business.

Review supplier documentation and assess the compliance of raw materials and finished products.

Prepare Declarations of Compliance, regulatory statements and technical documentation.

Respond to customer regulatory and technical enquiries.

Support analytical testing by liaising with external laboratories and technical partners.

Maintain regulatory records and documentation to support audits and customer requirements.

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance while supporting product innovation.

    About You

To be successful, you'll ideally have:

A degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science or a related scientific discipline.

Previous Regulatory Affairs experience within manufacturing, chemicals, packaging or a similar technical environment.

Knowledge of food contact regulations, packaging legislation, REACH or equivalent regulatory frameworks.

The ability to interpret complex legislation and apply it in a practical commercial setting.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and engage with a range of stakeholders.

A proactive, solution-focused approach and the confidence to challenge convention in order to achieve the best outcome.

    What's on Offer

In return, you'll join a successful, forward-thinking business that values collaboration, innovation and professional development. Alongside a competitive salary, you'll benefit from:

    Bonus scheme

Hybrid working and flexible working hours

25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays

    Defined contribution pension scheme

    Private medical insurance

    Life assurance

    Health cash plan

    Employee Assistance Programme

    Wellbeing Day

Excellent opportunities for ongoing training, career progression and professional development

If you're looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact within a collaborative and supportive environment, we'd love to hear from you
