How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    M&E Stock Condition Surveyor (Contract) - Schools ProgrammeLocation: Home-based with travel across the South West and South Coast (covering Plymouth to Weymouth/Poole)
    Contract Type: Contract / Interim Assignment
    Engagement: Outside IR35 - Limited Company Contractors Welcome
    Duration: School holiday period and continuing post-holiday programme
    Rate: £30 per hour / £225 per day
    (Outside IR35) + mileage 45 pence per mile
    Security Clearance: Enhanced DBS Required

    The Role
    We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Stock Condition Surveyor to support a condition surveying programme across approximately 11 schools throughout the South West and South Coast region, covering locations from Plymouth and exeter through to Weymouth and Poole.
    Working independently from home and on-site, you will undertake detailed condition surveys of building services assets, assessing lifecycle condition, compliance, and planned maintenance requirements across educational estates.
    The majority of survey work will be conducted during the school holiday periods to minimise disruption, with additional surveys and reporting continuing thereafter.
    Key Responsibilities
    Using an bespoke APP ( training given)
    *Undertake M&E stock condition surveys across primary and secondary school sites.
    *Assess the condition, age, remaining life, and replacement requirements of mechanical and electrical assets.
    *Record asset data accurately using client-provided survey methodologies and software.
    *Identify statutory compliance risks and maintenance requirements.
    *Produce clear and concise survey reports and lifecycle recommendations.
    *Liaise professionally with school representatives and project stakeholders.
    *Manage your own survey programme and travel schedule within the designated region.
    Requirements
    Essential:
    Strong IT skills and ability to pick up using an
    APP on your phone
    *Mechanical or Electrical trade background.
    *OR HNC/HND qualification in a relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline.
    *Previous experience undertaking stock condition surveys, asset surveys, lifecycle surveys, or building services surveys.
    *Good understanding of M&E systems within commercial, public sector, or educational buildings.
    *Ability to work independently and manage workloads efficiently.
    *Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
    *Current Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain one immediately.
    Desirable:
    *Experience surveying schools, healthcare, local authority, or public sector estates.
    *Familiarity with condition grading methodologies and lifecycle planning.
    *Experience using handheld survey devices or asset management software.
