How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Building Safety Case Team Leader

    Location: Colchester (Hybrid Working) with UK & Worldwide Travel
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

    Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Building Safety Team Leader on behalf of our client. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing consultancy, leading a team of Building Safety Consultants while providing specialist building safety advice and ensuring clients remain compliant with current legislation. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality Building Safety Case Reports, mentoring a technical team, carrying out complex site inspections and providing expert guidance to clients across the UK and internationally.

    Main Purpose of the Role

    Working within your level of competence, you will lead a team of Building Safety Consultants responsible for delivering Building Safety Case Reports and associated consultancy services. You will undertake complex site inspections, review risk assessments, oversee the quality and accuracy of Building Safety Case Reports, provide technical leadership and support clients in meeting their obligations under the Building Safety Act 2022. This is a hybrid role based in Colchester, combining home, office and site-based working, with regular travel throughout the UK and worldwide.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    * Lead, mentor and support a team of Building Safety Consultants and technical specialists.

    * Act as the primary technical point of contact for the Building Safety Team.

    * Undertake complex building safety inspections and risk assessments across Higher-Risk Buildings and residential developments.

    * Produce, review and quality assure Building Safety Case Reports and associated technical reports.

    * Provide technical advice relating to the Building Safety Act 2022, fire safety and structural safety.

    * Support clients with their Building Safety obligations, ensuring compliance with current legislation.

    * Attend client meetings to present findings, provide recommendations and deliver technical guidance.

    * Support Project Managers with workload planning, resource allocation and programme management.

    * Promote consistency in technical decision-making and ensure projects are delivered to company standards.

    * Travel throughout the UK and internationally to undertake inspections, assessments and consultancy work.

    Additional Responsibilities

    * Carry out technical quality assurance reviews before reports are issued.

    * Monitor recurring technical issues and recommend continuous improvements.

    * Deliver training, mentoring, one-to-one meetings and CPD sessions for team members.

    * Assist with competency assessments, recruitment and onboarding of new employees.

    * Contribute to the development of company procedures, technical guidance and best practice documentation.

    * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and industry guidance.

    * Support innovation, continuous improvement and adherence to ISO management systems.

    * Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role.

    Experience, Skills & Qualifications

    * Previous experience within Building Safety, Fire Safety, Health & Safety or a related technical consultancy role.

    * Previous experience leading or mentoring a technical team.

    * Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated legislation.

    * Experience carrying out complex risk assessments and producing technical reports.

    * Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.

    * Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to build lasting client relationships.

    * Competent using Microsoft Office applications.

    * Full UK Driving Licence.

    * Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK and worldwide.
