About the Role

We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Youth Mentors to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs (SEN) across Weston-super-Mare. Working within schools and alternative provision settings, you will help students build confidence, develop positive relationships, and re-engage with their education.
This role is about more than supporting learning. It is about becoming a trusted mentor, offering stability, guidance, and encouragement to young people who need someone in their corner.

The Role
As a Youth Mentor, you will:
Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring support
Build positive, trusting relationships with students
Support young people with SEMH, SEN, and behavioural needs
Help students develop confidence, resilience, and life skills
Encourage attendance, engagement, and participation in learning
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and families
Act as a consistent and positive role model

Confident working with children who may present additional challenges
Adaptable and proactive in their approach
Committed to safeguarding and promoting children's welfarePrevious experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential.
