Overview
A growing high-end fit out and refurbishment contractor is looking for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team delivering bespoke residential and commercial projects across London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some quantity surveying or estimating experience who wants to develop into a fully rounded Quantity Surveyor, gaining exposure to both commercial management and pre-construction.

The Opportunity
Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and senior management, you'll be involved in the commercial delivery of prestigious fit out and refurbishment projects from tender stage through to final account.

This is a varied role where you'll split your time between estimating support, procurement, cost management and project commercial administration, giving you excellent all-round experience and a genuine platform to progress.

You'll gain exposure to:

Assisting with take-offs and preparing estimates for tender submissions
Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents
Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
Preparing subcontract packages and supporting procurement
Measuring works and assisting with valuations and variations
Cost reporting and monitoring project budgets
Supporting monthly applications, payments and final accounts
Working closely with project managers to manage commercial performance
Attending site visits and client meetings where required This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to broaden their commercial knowledge rather than becoming solely office or site based.

What They're Looking For
Experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Estimator or Trainee QS within construction
Ideally some exposure to fit out, refurbishment or high-end residential projects
Understanding of estimating, procurement or commercial processes
Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Good communication and organisational ability
Professional attitude with a willingness to learn
Solid IT skills including Excel
Stable employment history and genuine ambition to progress What You Get
