How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Graduate Quantity Surveyor

    Location: Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
    Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

    Our client is an established property maintenance contractor based in Borehamwood. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Quantity Surveying graduate to gain practical experience across a range of property maintenance, refurbishment and planned works projects.

    Working alongside experienced commercial professionals, you will receive ongoing training and support while assisting with the financial management of projects from initial quotation through to final account.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Assisting with the preparation of estimates, quotations and project budgets

    * Measuring works from drawings, specifications and site information

    * Supporting the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers

    * Obtaining and comparing subcontractor quotations

    * Assisting with monthly valuations and payment applications

    * Monitoring project costs against agreed budgets

    * Identifying, recording and pricing variations

    * Supporting the preparation of cost reports and final accounts

    * Attending site visits and project meetings

    * Liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and operational teams

    * Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation

    * Supporting the wider commercial team as required

    Candidate Requirements

    * A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline

    * A genuine interest in property maintenance, refurbishment and construction

    * Strong numerical and analytical skills

    * Good communication and organisational abilities

    * Excellent attention to detail

    * Confident using Microsoft Excel and standard office software

    * Previous construction or property maintenance experience would be beneficial but is not essential

    * A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as the role will involve travelling to sites

    The successful candidate will receive structured training, practical experience and the opportunity to develop into a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor within a supportive and growing business
