How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Graduate Quantity Surveyor

    Location: Gloucester
    Salary: £28,000 per annum

    Our client is a well-established, medium-sized main contractor based in Gloucester. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Quantity Surveying graduate to begin their career with a supportive construction business, working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and gaining hands-on exposure to a variety of live projects.

    The successful candidate will assist with the financial and commercial management of construction projects from initial tender stage through to final account.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Assisting with the preparation of project cost plans and budgets

    * Supporting the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers

    * Preparing and issuing tender enquiries

    * Comparing and analysing subcontractor quotations

    * Assisting with valuations, payment notices and cost reporting

    * Monitoring project costs against budgets

    * Supporting the management of variations and change control

    * Attending site and commercial meetings

    * Assisting with the preparation of final accounts

    * Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation

    Candidate Requirements

    * A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline

    * A genuine interest in developing a career as a Quantity Surveyor

    * Strong numerical and analytical skills

    * Good communication and organisation skills

    * Excellent attention to detail

    * Confident using Microsoft Excel and other standard software

    * Previous construction experience would be beneficial but is not essential

    * A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
