How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

🚀 Culture Guru is partnering with a well-established contractor in the built environment – a values-led SME with a strong track record delivering works across the social housing and public sector space. They're looking for a genuinely brilliant Social Value Coordinator to make sure the promises made at tender stage turn into real, measurable impact in the communities they work in.

💫 This is not a tick-box, spreadsheet-in-the-corner role. You'll be the person who takes social value from a line in a bid to something you can actually see on the ground – apprentices starting, local people in work, schools engaged, community events happening. Working alongside the Community Investment Manager, bid team, site managers and supply chain partners, you'll be out and about, hands-on, making things happen.

⭐ There's real scope here to shape how it's done. If you're the sort of person who builds relationships easily, chases down the evidence, and genuinely cares about leaving a place better than you found it, you'll fit right in.

🤓 Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Shaping standout social value content for tenders and translating winning pledges into practical, project-by-project delivery plans
    • Partnering with estimators and the bid team to make sure commitments are ambitious but genuinely achievable on site
    • Putting numbers to the impact using the tools the sector trusts – think TOMs-based measurement and recognised reporting platforms
    • Getting social value baked into how a site runs from day one, working shoulder-to-shoulder with delivery teams
    • Bringing the good stuff to life – apprenticeships, placements, local hiring, work with schools and colleges, community days, volunteering and opening doors to smaller and more diverse suppliers
    • Making sure subcontractors know exactly what's expected of them, and helping them deliver it
    • Keeping an eye on partner performance, gathering the proof, and checking it stacks up
    • Flying the flag for local, independent and voluntary-sector suppliers
    • Keeping clean, reliable records so nothing falls over when the auditors come knocking
    • Pulling together the monthly numbers – internal dashboards and client-facing reports that tell the story clearly
    • Growing a strong network across councils, housing providers, employment and skills services, education and grassroots community groups
    • Being the friendly face of the business at community forums, engagement events and careers outreach

😍 Ideal attributes of the successful candidate:

    • Proven experience in social value, sustainability, CSR or community engagement – ideally some of it in construction or the built environment
    • A natural with data and reporting – you like your records tidy and your evidence watertight
    • A warm, credible communicator who can win over a site team and inspire a classroom in the same day
    • Seriously well organised, and calm juggling several live projects at once
    • Handy with Excel and PowerPoint, and quick to get to grips with new systems
    • Self-starting, empathetic and unflappable when things move fast
    • Full UK driving licence and happy to travel between sites (the odd evening event or unsociable hour comes with the territory)
    • Any familiarity with recognised social value frameworks, measurement portals, or apprenticeship and local-labour schemes is a bonus – not a must

🌟 This is more than just a job – it's a chance to own the work that proves a business actually makes a difference, and to leave something behind that matters. If that's the kind of impact you want from your work, this is it.
