How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    · 25 Days Holiday
    · Private Healthcare
    · Private Medical Insurance
    · Death in Service

LOCATION: This is a home based role, with UK travel.

COMMUTABLE LOCATIONS: Birmingham, Nottingham, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Derby

JOB DESCRIPTION: Business Development Manager, Sales Manager - Public Sector, Local Authorities, SaaS

Reporting to the General Manager, this Business Development Manager is a home-based role where you'll build a pipeline, meet customers and increase the visibility of our SaaS solution. This is a consultative sales role with sales cycles ranging from three months to 18+ months. Success comes from building credibility, understanding customer needs and developing long-term relationships with multiple stakeholders.

As our Business Development Manager, you will:
    · Generate new business opportunities across local authorities, councils, parish councils, national parks and other public sector organisations. Initially 90% of your time will be focused on winning new business.
    · Build relationships with senior decision-makers, developing opportunities from introduction through to contract award, with sales cycles ranging from 3 to 18+ months.
    · Manage the full sales process, including prospecting, customer meetings, tender submissions, commercial negotiations and project handover.
    · Sell a combination of hardware and software solutions. Software contracts generate recurring revenue through highly valuable insights, while hardware projects are typically worth circa £30,000-£40,000, often with opportunities to supply multiple products.
    · Increase brand awareness by maintaining a visible presence within the market through customer visits, networking events, exhibitions and industry conferences.
    · Re-engage dormant accounts and identify opportunities to introduce additional solutions into existing customers and different departments.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Business Development Manager, Sales Manager - Public Sector, Local Authorities, SaaS

You will be someone who enjoys building a market presence as much as winning new business. You'll be a genuine new business hunter, motivated by the thrill of the chase. We're open to the products or services you've sold previously, but experience selling into local authorities or the wider public sector is essential.

    You'll also have:
    · A proven track record of generating and converting new business opportunities.
    · Experience managing your own sales pipeline and forecasting activity through a CRM system.
    · The ability to build long-term relationships with senior decision-makers across the public sector.

Your background could include selling products or services such as street furniture, traffic signals, traffic management software, intelligent transport systems, street lighting, traffic monitoring, Active Travel monitoring, variable message signs (VMS), EV charging infrastructure, CCTV, IoT and monitoring solutions, or micro-mobility services including e-bikes and e-scooters.

    THE COMPANY:

We create and supply specialist technology that helps organisations better understand how people move through towns, cities and public spaces. Working with public sector organisations across the UK, our solutions support investment decisions, transport planning and infrastructure projects by providing reliable, accurate and high-quality data. Our reputation has been built on quality, technical expertise and long-term customer relationships. As demand continues to grow, we're investing in expanding our presence across the UK.

INTERESTED? Please click apply. You will receive an acknowledgement of your application.

Wallace Hind Selection, alongside our client embrace diversity, champion equality, and foster inclusion to create a work environment where everyone belongs and thrives.
