How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The key information:

We’re looking for an aspiring Middleweight Designer to support our growing client portfolio, in a busy, growing design agency in EC1.

    Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 DOE

    What you’ll offer:

As our next designer, you will need to possess an enthusiastic approach to visual and conceptual problem-solving, be passionate about communication in all its forms (it’s not just about how it looks), and have a desire to demonstrate and expand your abilities.

You will naturally have an excellent understanding of all core design principles, strong background in typography and layout, with the ability to understand briefs, propose and articulate conceptual solutions, take constructive feedback, and develop and refine work for final delivery across print and digital media.

You will ideally have a broad portfolio of work, demonstrating both a conceptual and commercial understanding of design practice, across both live and self-initiated briefs.

As an aspiring Junior Designer looking to make the step up to Middleweight, or an established Middleweight looking to expand your skills and experience, you’ll pay special attention to demonstrating your strong underlying creative talent.

You will have excellent skills in the core Adobe Creative Suite applications, with experience in any other creative platforms across varying disciplines being a bonus.

    What we’ll offer:

You’ll be working as part of a small creative department, under our Head of Design (overseen by our Creative Director), in an open, collaborative, friendly studio.

We’ll make the successful candidate an integral part of a close-knit, expanding team, with the opportunity to have sight of, and meaningful input throughout the entire creative process.

We’ll offer the chance to develop not only creatively but commercially, with opportunities to work on pitches and interface with clients if you choose, and to develop and grow through both giving and receiving creative critique, and expanding and developing their creative credentials in an open, flexible, supportive environment.

    What we’ll ask of you:

    •     To understand briefs, and propose visual and conceptual solutions

    •     To create initial design solutions of varying styles and complexities

    •     To articulate your creative approach, to self-evaluate, and respond positively to creative direction

    •     To constructively interpret feedback and incorporate into final executions

    •     To produce final design solutions (finished logo files, print-ready artwork, digital assets)

    •     To pitch creative ideas, both internally, and, when necessary, externally.

    What you’ll need to have

    •     A strong, diverse portfolio

    •     Ideally, 3-4 years of agency experience (or similar, we’re very flexible on this)

    •     Excellent Adobe Creative Suite skills, in a minimum of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, with After Effects, Premiere Pro being desirable, with any additional software experience (Figma, Blendr, etc) being an added bonus

    •     A basic working knowledge of HTML5 would be of significant benefit

    •     Solid experience at all stages of the creative process (e.g. Conceptualisation, development, refinement, supply, and production, etc.) with a willingness to learn, take direction, and expand your knowledge

    •     A strong understanding of all core design principles

    •     The ability to work in, and have meaningful input to a close, close, collaborative team

    •     Exceptional and consistent eye for detail (typos in your portfolio are not a good look…!)

    •     A genuine creative talent and a desire to express this through visual problem-solving

    •     A BA-level or equivalent qualification in a design related field is desirable, but absolutely not essential.

    What else we’ll offer:

    • Free gym membership (unlimited use) and exercise classes
    • Additional annual leave day for birthday
    • Hybrid working (1-2 days following successful completion of probation period)
    • Quarterly skill review with supplemental training course provision.
