How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Product Designer & Assistant Installer

Location: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire | Office, yard and site-based

    Introduction

If you are a graduate product or furniture designer with a practical, hands-on approach and would like to combine design work with active site experience, this could be an excellent opportunity to join Cantilever Bar Systems Ltd.

For over 30 years, Cantilever has designed, manufactured and installed innovative bar solutions for the hospitality industry. We provide a complete service from the initial client brief through to design, fabrication and installation, and our close-knit team plays a key role in delivering each project successfully.

As an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) business, Cantilever has a strong team ethic, with employees having a meaningful say in the direction and future of the company.

    The Role

This is a varied role combining bar design with installation work. You will initially spend time learning our installation process and working alongside our experienced installers before developing your design skills in the studio.

As your experience grows, your time will be split between design and site work, depending on project requirements.

    Product Designer

Working as part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be involved in bar design projects from initial brief through to installation. Responsibilities will include:

    · Coordinating projects from brief to installation

    · Working to programme and budget.

    · Liaising with clients, architects, site trades and suppliers.

    · Developing designs in line with Cantilever's processes and standards.

    · Producing 3D CAD models and visuals.

    · Producing accurate 2D technical and fabrication drawings.

    · Carrying out site surveys and measurements.

    Assistant Bar Installer

You will work alongside our experienced installation team and learn how our bars are prepared and installed on site. This will include:

o Preparing materials, tools and equipment for site work.

o Assisting with the delivery, unloading and installation of bars.

o Liaising with site managers and other trades.

o Carrying out basic joinery and practical installation work where required.

o Helping resolve problems on site and ensuring Cantilever's high standards are maintained.

o Assisting with snagging, maintenance and site surveys.

The role may also involve supporting the yard and stores, including keeping materials, tools, vehicles and working areas organised.

The site-based element of the role will involve early starts, late finishes and occasional nights away.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    · Degree in product design, furniture design or a related discipline (2.2 minimum).

    · Experience using 2D and 3D CAD software. Experience with ArchiCAD is advantageous, but full training will be provided.

    · A practical and technical approach with excellent attention to detail.

    · Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.

    · A willingness to work hands-on and learn practical installation skills.

    · A positive, confident and proactive approach.

    · A valid UK driving licence due to the location of the yard and the site-based nature of the role.

    Desirable

    · Knowledge of materials

    · Interest in the manufacturing process and of construction.

    Training & Development

You will receive training in Cantilever's approach to bar design, fabrication and installation, drawing on over 30 years of industry experience.

Training will also be provided in ArchiCAD, site surveying and measurement techniques, enabling you to develop your skills across both the design and installation sides of the business.

    Location

Cantilever's office and yard are based in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. The role is primarily office, yard and site-based, with occasional home working possible for administrative or design work.

Because site work often involves early starts and travel from the yard, candidates will need to have easy and reliable access to Stonehouse.

    Salary

£28,000 to £32,000 depending on suitability and experience.

Applications for this role close on Friday, 21st August, 2026.
