How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Company Description RLO Tankers is an innovative and dynamic company specializing in niche physical bunkering supply solutions for the marine industry. The organization is known for its hands-on approach and high standard of service, working closely with clients to meet their needs accurately and on time. RLO Tankers focuses on building strong, long-term relationships by delivering reliable and tailored bunker supply arrangements. At the same time, the company maintains a competitive edge in the market by continuously refining its services and operational efficiency. This environment offers professionals an opportunity to grow within a forward-thinking and service-driven marine business.

Role Description The Marine Purchaser is a full-time, on-site role based in London, responsible for coordinating and executing bunker fuel purchases for the company’s fleet and clients. Day-to-day tasks include sourcing bunker suppliers, obtaining and evaluating quotations, negotiating pricing and contract terms, and placing purchase orders in line with operational requirements and company policies. The role involves monitoring market conditions, fuel prices, and supply trends, as well as maintaining accurate purchasing records and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal procedures. The Marine Purchaser will collaborate closely with operations, chartering, technical, and finance teams to ensure timely delivery of bunkers and to resolve any supply or documentation issues. The position also includes building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, optimizing cost efficiency, and contributing to continuous improvement of purchasing processes.

    Qualifications

    • Experience in marine purchasing, shipping, or bunkering operations, with a strong understanding of fuel procurement processes and maritime logistics.
    • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills, including the ability to secure competitive prices, favorable terms, and reliable supply arrangements.

    • Proficiency with MS Office and relevant procurement or ERP systems, along with accurate data entry and documentation skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
    • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple purchasing activities under time constraints.
    • Knowledge of marine fuel types, quality specifications, and applicable industry regulations and compliance standards is highly beneficial.
    • Prior experience in a similar marine or shipping role and relevant education (e.g., maritime studies, business, logistics, or related field) are preferred.
