About This KS1 Teaching Assistant Opportunity
A friendly primary school in Haringey is seeking a nurturing and proactive KS1 Teaching Assistant to join its team from September.
You will help younger pupils build strong foundations in phonics, reading, writing and early mathematics. Working under the direction of the class teacher, the KS1 Teaching Assistant will support whole-class learning as well as targeted activities for pupils who need additional practice or encouragement.
The role would suit someone who understands that children in Key Stage 1 learn best through clear routines, positive relationships and engaging practical activities.
Day-to-Day Duties
Supporting pupils during phonics, reading and numeracy sessions
Leading focused activities with individuals and small groups
Encouraging positive learning habits and independence
Helping pupils settle into classroom routines
Supporting children with additional or emerging needs
Preparing learning resources and displays
Providing feedback to the class teacher
Supervising pupils safely during transitions and activities
Essential Criteria
Experience working with children in a school, nursery or similar setting
An understanding of early reading and phonics
Clear spoken and written English
A patient, encouraging and organised approach
Confidence managing low-level behaviour
A commitment to inclusion and safeguarding
Right to work in the UK
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification would be advantageous.
