How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor – Highways (NEC)

    Location: Bristol / Taunton (South West)

    Permanent | Full Time


    Are you a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC experience? Looking to be part of a forward-thinking team delivering vital infrastructure improvements across the South West?


    We are recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading infrastructure business, supporting delivery across National Highways framework projects. With schemes between £500k - £15million, this role offers excellent exposure to a high-volume, technically engaging portfolio.


    The Role


    Reporting into the Project Commercial Lead, you’ll take ownership of the commercial delivery of projects or work packages, supporting project teams to drive value, manage risk and maintain strong contractual performance.


    Key responsibilities include:


    • Managing the commercial aspects of NEC contracts across multiple schemes
    • Leading subcontract procurement, tender evaluation and appointment
    • Preparing and managing applications for payment, valuations and final accounts
    • Administering compensation events, change control and variations
    • Supporting cost control, forecasting and CVR reporting
    • Ensuring contractual compliance, including timely notices and obligations
    • Working closely with delivery teams to identify risks and opportunities
    • Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff where required


    About You


    To be successful in this role, you will have:


    • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within highways or civil engineering projects
    • Essential: Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4)
    • Experience working on frameworks such as National Highways or similar
    • A solid understanding of commercial processes, cost control and contract administration
    • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively across project teams
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
