How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    As a Higher Education College, MLA College is part of the GEDU Global Education group, one of the largest education providers in Europe. Putting students first, MLA College has a focus on distance e-learning and blended learning and continues to develop its expertise in the use of technology to enhance student progression.


    With many new distance learning courses under development MLA College are looking for a Digital Learning Support Assistant who is confident, energetic, self-driven and innovative and has a passion for supporting both staff and students with technical enquiries in a higher education environment.


    MLA College is implementing a new Moodle based VLE and is looking for a specialised role to support users of this new platform by offering in-depth technical support to both staff and students.


    Essential attributes and experience required include the following;

    • Demonstrated experience in supporting learning design (ideally in Moodle) within higher education, online learning, or corporate learning environments.
    • Background in E-learning content creation/management
    • Extensive technical knowledge of using a VLE (ideally Moodle)
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Excellent team working skills
    • An eye for detail
    • Be motivated by a passion for quality and impeccable service delivery
    • Excellent levels of written and verbal communication
    • Ability to rapidly build and maintain relationships
    • Excellent skills in both organisation and prioritisation


    The post holder will be primarily responsible for supporting the new Moodle based VLE with additional responsibilities also including, supporting and maintaining our existing bespoke learning platform, the Total Learning Platform (TLP) and managing e-learning materials.

    Other duties will include:

    • Maintaining and updating existing digital content.
    • Contribute ideas to the progression of MLA College’s delivery of e-learning materials, and helping to implement these.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to continued personal development.

    • The successful candidate must be legally entitled to work in the UK.
    • This role may involve hours which sit outside of a standard working day
    • The successful candidate will be expected to comply with company policies and procedures
    • The successful candidate will be based in our Plymouth City Centre office
    • There may be a requirement to travel within the UK and internationally as part of this role
