How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a critical role within the Human Resources Team, responsible for helping allocate staff effectively across the firm in a way that balances business priorities, client demand, utilisation, career development and employee wellbeing.

This opportunity will suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoys working closely with senior stakeholders to solve complex resourcing challenges.

    The role

In this role, you will work alongside partners to design and implement best-practice resource allocation strategies, ensuring work is distributed efficiently across practice groups.

    You will:

    • Analyse timelines, skill sets and matter requirements to identify the most suitable resources.
    • Optimise utilisation by resolving conflicts, bottlenecks and competing priorities.
    • Support, coach and escalate issues for resource consultants within the team.
    • Build trusted relationships across the firm with lawyers, partners and stakeholders.
    • Forecast future resourcing needs based on pipelines, growth and strategic initiatives.
    • Help drive change, strengthen the resource management function and support integration across practice groups.

    We’re looking for someone with:

    • Experience in resource management, workforce allocation or a related field, ideally in professional services, legal or another fast-paced environment.
    • Strong planning, allocation and optimisation skills in a high-volume setting.
    • Confidence building credibility with stakeholders and introducing resource management into new business groups.
    • Experience leading, coaching or developing others.
    • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
    • The ability to constructively challenge senior stakeholders and drive outcomes.
    • Strong judgement, resilience and analytical capability.

    Why consider this move?

This is an excellent opportunity for an international candidate seeking an international move to Melbourne. You’ll join a supportive, high-performing team in a role with real influence, strong development pathways and the chance to build your career in a market-leading environment.

    What’s on offer

    • Full sponsorship & relocation
    • Permanent, full-time role.
    • Hybrid working, typically 60% in the office and 40% from home.
    • Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.
    • Market-competitive remuneration.
    • Strong learning, development and career growth opportunities.
