How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the client

    They are one of the world's largest international underwriting agencies, providing innovative insurance solutions across a broad range of specialty lines. Their Transactional Risk team partners with leading law firms, private equity houses, corporates and advisers to deliver W&I and Tax Insurance solutions on M&A transactions across the UK and Europe.

    As their team continues to grow, they look for commercially minded corporate lawyers who is interested in building a career in underwriting. This is an excellent opportunity to move away from the traditional private practice path while remaining at the heart of complex M&A transactions.


    The Role

    As an M&A Underwriter, you will work alongside experienced underwriters to assess transactional risk, structure bespoke insurance solutions and support clients through the deal process. You'll collaborate with brokers, legal advisers and corporate clients, applying your legal expertise in a fast-paced, commercial environment.

    This role offers the opportunity to remain involved in high-profile transactions while developing broader commercial, negotiation and client relationship skills.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Review and assess M&A transactions for Warranty & Indemnity opportunities.
    • Analyse legal due diligence reports, transaction documentation and deal structures to evaluate risk.
    • Underwrite risks and determine appropriate policy terms, coverage and pricing.
    • Work closely with brokers, law firms, private equity sponsors and corporate clients throughout the underwriting process.
    • Support negotiations on policy wording and coverage, balancing legal and commercial considerations.
    • Develop strong relationships with external advisers and contribute to business development activities.
    • Keep up to date with developments in the M&A, legal and insurance markets.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Transactional Risk team to deliver market-leading solutions.


    About You

    • Qualified lawyer with approximately 2–5 years' experience, ideally in Corporate/M&A within a leading private practice law firm.
    • Strong understanding of M&A transactions, due diligence and transaction documentation.
    • Looking to transition into a more commercial role while continuing to work on complex corporate transactions.
    • Naturally analytical with the ability to assess risk and make balanced commercial decisions.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence interacting with clients and advisers.
    • Commercially curious, proactive and keen to develop within a growing specialist underwriting team.
    • Able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
