How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Geophysicist (Geostatistics & AI)

A Cambridge University spin-out is transforming how mining companies model and understand orebodies using explainable AI. Backed by $4 million in funding and already working with some of the world's largest mining companies, they're looking to hire a Geophysicist to play a key role in shaping the future of resource modelling.

This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage business where you'll influence both the technology and the way mining companies make critical exploration and resource development decisions.

    The Opportunity

Working alongside a highly technical team of engineers and AI specialists, you'll bridge traditional geostatistics with cutting-edge machine learning, helping develop robust, uncertainty-aware geological models that improve confidence in resource estimation and drilling decisions.

This is a hands-on technical role where you'll have the opportunity to:

    • Develop and improve geostatistical and geophysical modelling workflows.
    • Benchmark AI-generated models against traditional resource estimation techniques such as kriging and conditional simulation.
    • Work with geological, geophysical and drilling datasets to produce meaningful insights for mining companies.
    • Build scalable, reproducible Python workflows rather than one-off analyses.
    • Help shape the future direction of the company's modelling methodology and product.

    About You

    • Geophysics or Geostatistics background.
    • Strong Python programming skills.
    • Resource estimation and block modelling experience.
    • Solid understanding of geostatistical methods including variography, kriging and conditional simulation.
    • Experience working with geological and geophysical datasets within the mining industry.
    • Familiarity with software such as Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine or Micromine.
    • MSc or PhD in Geophysics, Geostatistics or a related discipline would be advantageous.

    Why Join?

    • Join a rapidly growing Cambridge University spin-out at an exciting stage of growth.
    • Work on genuinely innovative AI technology with real-world mining applications.
    • Influence product development and technical strategy from an early stage.
    • Competitive salary plus meaningful equity.
    • Collaborate with a highly experienced technical leadership team.
    • Help shape technology that has the potential to significantly reduce drilling costs, improve resource confidence and accelerate mining projects worldwide.

If you're passionate about combining geophysics, geostatistics and technology to solve complex mining challenges, we'd love to hear from you.
