Interim General Counsel (M&A Focus)
MLA is working on an excellent interim opportunity with a fast-growing, private equity-backed business operating across multiple European markets.
Following a significant period of expansion through acquisition, the business is looking to appoint an Interim General Counsel on an initial 3-month contract to support a busy transactional pipeline and provide senior legal leadership across the organisation.
This role would suit a senior corporate/M&A lawyer who enjoys working closely with the business, partnering with senior stakeholders, and operating in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting acquisitions, investments and other strategic transactions
- Reviewing and negotiating transaction documents and commercial agreements
- Advising leadership teams on legal and commercial risk
- Managing external counsel across multiple jurisdictions
- Supporting post-deal integration activities
- Enhancing legal processes, governance and risk management frameworks
- Providing pragmatic, business-focused advice across a range of commercial legal matters
Ideal background:
- Qualified lawyer with strong M&A experience gained in a leading law firm
- Experience advising on private equity transactions and/or supporting PE-backed companies
- Previous in-house experience is advantageous
- Commercially minded, pragmatic and comfortable operating autonomously
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders
Location:
- Hybrid working arrangement with a London office base and an expectation of 2-3 days per week in the office.
If you're an experienced M&A lawyer available at short notice and interested in a broad, hands-on GC role within a dynamic growth business, I'd be delighted to hear from you.
