Head of Compliance & MLRO | Family Office
London-Based | 4 Days per Week
Salary: £120,000 plus bonus and benefits
A senior compliance leadership role with a four-day working week, stepping into SMF16 and SMF17 responsibilities as part of a planned succession with a multi-family office in London.
Our client is an established, FCA-regulated family office looking after high and ultra-high-net-worth clients across the UK and beyond. With activity spanning multiple jurisdictions, the firm delivers a highly personal, relationship-led service built on a genuinely strong compliance culture. The team is lean and senior, so you'll have real visibility and influence right up to board level.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as the firm's senior compliance authority across all regulatory compliance and financial crime matters
- Serving as the lead contact for the FCA, regulatory bodies and government agencies
- Chairing the quarterly Risk Management Committee
- Maintaining and reviewing all compliance and financial crime policies, procedures and controls
- Owning the annual MLRO report, risk assessments and control frameworks
- Delivering compliance training to new and existing staff across the business
- Overseeing client due diligence, transaction monitoring and timely regulatory reporting
- Supporting the firm's operations across multiple international client jurisdictions
Experience Required
- Broad compliance and financial crime experience gained within a regulated financial services environment
- Background in private wealth management, asset management or a similarly client-facing regulated business
- Current or recent SMF16 and/or SMF17 holder, or a senior compliance lead operating at that level and ready for approval
- Strong command of FCA requirements and financial crime frameworks (AML, KYC, SAR reporting)
- Confident communicator at ease with board and senior management audiences
- The judgement and presence to take full ownership of a regulated function immediately
Our client is looking for someone ready to step directly into the SMF16 and/or SMF17 functions, whether you hold them now or are currently deputising and primed to take that step. What matters most is the right combination of technical grounding, commercial awareness and the readiness to take on full regulatory accountability.
