Interim Employment Counsel
Our customer, an AI technology company, is seeking an experienced Employment Counsel to provide interim support to its in-house legal team for a 6 months contract role. This is a full-time, fully remote contract covering a period of extended leave within the team and offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of EMEA employment law matters in a fast-paced, international environment.
The successful candidate will support day-to-day employment law issues across multiple EMEA jurisdictions, while also assisting with works council matters. External counsel support is available where required, so the role is focused on coordinating advice, providing practical legal guidance and partnering closely with internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on a broad range of employment law matters across EMEA jurisdictions.
- Support HR and business stakeholders on employee relations issues, disciplinary and grievance matters, performance management, restructurings and general employment queries.
- Assist with works council and employee representative matters, including consultation processes where required.
- Draft, review and update employment-related documentation, policies and agreements.
- Coordinate with external counsel to obtain jurisdiction-specific advice and ensure consistent legal guidance across multiple countries.
- Deliver practical, risk-based advice to support business objectives.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fully remote, international environment.
Skills & Experience
- Qualified lawyer with strong in-house or private practice employment law experience.
- Demonstrable experience advising on employment law matters across multiple EMEA jurisdictions.
- Experience supporting works councils or employee representative bodies is highly desirable.
- Comfortable working across international legal issues and coordinating with external counsel where appropriate.
- Able to provide pragmatic, commercial legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and general legal technology platforms is preferred (experience with Brightflag is beneficial but not essential).
