Role Description The Transport Planner is a full-time, on-site role based in the West Midlands. The role involves planning and scheduling vehicle routes, allocating loads, and coordinating with drivers, warehouse teams, and customers to ensure timely deliveries. Responsibilities include monitoring daily operations, resolving transport issues, optimizing fleet utilization, and maintaining accurate records in transport management systems. The Transport Planner will communicate delivery updates, manage changes to schedules, and support compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The role also includes reviewing transport performance data to identify improvements in efficiency, service quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Transportation Planning and Transport Modelling to design efficient routes and support data-driven decision-making.
- Experience in Operations Management and Transportation Management to oversee daily logistics activities and fleet performance.
- Strong Communication skills to collaborate with drivers, internal teams, and customers and to manage service expectations.
- Proficiency with transport management systems, route-planning tools, and standard office software.
- Solid understanding of UK road transport regulations, health and safety practices, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and time management capabilities.
- Previous experience in road haulage, logistics, or warehousing planning is highly beneficial.
- Relevant vocational training or a qualification in logistics, transport management, or a related field is preferred.
