QC Analyst (Microbiology Laboratory)

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented QC Analyst to join a fast-paced Quality Control Microbiology Laboratory supporting a leading manufacturer within the food, nutrition, and FMCG sector.
This role is ideal for a science graduate or experienced laboratory professional looking to gain hands-on experience in a highly regulated environment where quality, food safety, and continuous improvement are at the heart of operations.
As part of the Quality team, you will play a vital role in ensuring testing activities are completed accurately, safely, and in compliance with GMP, GLP, and laboratory procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine microbiological testing in accordance with approved SOPs, GMP, and GLP requirements.
- Support daily laboratory operations and ensure testing schedules are met.
- Maintain key performance indicators, including:
- Right First Time (RFT)
- On Time In Full (OTIF)
- Complete training and competency assessments for routine analysis methods.
- Review and verify laboratory data to ensure accurate reporting.
- Support investigations, including Out of Specification (OOS) processes where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and laboratory process enhancement projects.
- Assist with the validation and introduction of new methods and laboratory equipment.
- Maintain laboratory housekeeping standards and support rota requirements.
- Manage assigned equipment and testing methods.
- Order and receive laboratory consumables.
- Update SOPs and related documentation when required.
- Implement assigned corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety standards.
About You
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- BSc degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
- Previous experience within a Pharmaceutical, Food Manufacturing, FMCG, or Quality Control laboratory environment.
- Strong understanding of laboratory compliance, GMP, GLP, and quality systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Desired Skills
- Experience handling food ingredients and dry powder products.
- Analytical and technical problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and risk management principles.
- Familiarity with laboratory investigations and troubleshooting.
