How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Fundraising Trustee | Prospect Hospice | Swindon, UK

For details on how to formally apply, please visit our website here.

Join Prospect Hospice as a Fundraising Trustee and help strengthen its mission to make a lasting, meaningful difference in end-of-life care.

    • Location: Wroughton, Swindon
    • Salary: Reasonable expenses paid
    • Closing date: 9 a.m. Thursday 3rd September

    Who we are

Since 1980, Prospect Hospice has provided the only dedicated end-of-life care service for people living across north east Wiltshire, including Swindon, Marlborough and Royal Wootton Bassett, as well as Fairford and Lechlade in Gloucestershire. We bring care, comfort and confidence around the clock, every day of the year.

At Prospect Hospice, we provide excellent, personalised and compassionate care for everyone in our community who is affected by a life-limiting illness. We work in close partnership with other organisations and specifically with local health and social care professionals, to ensure that anyone can access the best possible care whenever and wherever they need it — and we do so completely free of charge.

Prospect Hospice provides a broad range of services to thousands of patients, carers and family members every year. Our team of nurses, doctors and therapists support patients at the hospice in Wroughton, in their own homes and care homes. Carers and family members can also access a range of free support services.

Through our outreach work — talking to businesses, schools, GP surgeries and community groups — we raise awareness about life-limiting illness and end-of-life care and encourage conversations about death and dying.

We aim to break down barriers that might stop people from accessing our services.

Prospect Hospice is a charity, funded primarily by our local community. Each year, it costs several million pounds to provide the care that our patients and their families depend on.

    About the role

Around 80% of our income comes from voluntary donations, fundraising and our retail operations. Our strategy to 2029/30 sets an ambitious goal: to increase voluntary income by 50%, building on the strong momentum that has already seen net income growth of 30% over the past two years. To achieve this sustainably, we are strengthening our Board with specialist insight and leadership in fundraising.

We are seeking an exceptional fundraising leader to join our Board of Trustees and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Prospect Hospice’s income generation.

This is a significant opportunity for an experienced professional who combines deep fundraising expertise with a strong commitment to our purpose: ensuring that everyone in our community can access outstanding end‑of‑life care when they need it most.

As a trustee, your expertise will directly influence the hospice’s financial sustainability and strategic direction.

    You will:

    • Help guide our journey to substantially grow and diversify our income by 2029/30.
    • Support and challenge our fundraising leadership to innovate and adapt in a competitive landscape.
    • Bring external perspective and sector expertise to Board discussions and decisions.
    • Ensure our fundraising approach reflects best practice, emerging trends and opportunities for partnership growth.
    • Champion a culture of ambition, creativity and continuous improvement in income generation.

Your leadership will enable Prospect Hospice to reach more people, provide more choice and deliver exceptional end‑of‑life care for many years to come.

The time commitment for this role is equivalent to one day per month. The board are happy to consider changes to / flexibility of timings of board and sub committee meetings where possible and within reason.

    Who we are looking for

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring:

    • Senior, strategic fundraising leadership experience: Preferably gained within a large national charity or complex fundraising environment, with responsibility for multi‑stream income portfolios.
    • Expertise in mass‑market and/or high‑value fundraising: This could include individual giving, legacy and in-memory giving, events, community fundraising, corporate partnerships, trusts & foundations, or philanthropy.
    • A strong grasp of fundraising innovation and product development: We are keen to hear from leaders who have successfully developed new propositions, grown scalable fundraising products, or built new routes to market.
    • Insight into sustainable income growth: Experience supporting organisational growth, diversifying income streams and delivering investment‑led fundraising strategies.
    • The ability to provide constructive challenge, support, and inspiration: You will work closely with our Director of Income Generation and leadership team, bringing insight, asking the right questions and championing fundraising excellence across the charity.
    • A personal commitment to Prospect Hospice’s mission: You should care deeply about high‑quality hospice care and be motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the community we serve.

    Who would this role suit?

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced fundraising leader who:

    • Is passionate about purpose‑driven income generation.
    • Enjoys strategic thinking and shaping organisational growth.
    • Wants to give back to a local community in a meaningful, tangible way.
    • Is ready to play an influential role on a Board committed to excellence, compassion and innovation.

Prior trustee experience is welcome but not essential. We value expertise, insight and a collaborative mindset above all.
