The Opportunity
An established and well-respected law firm is looking to recruit an experienced Costs Draftsman to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a varied caseload, supporting the Family, Court of Protection (COP), and Criminal departments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing and managing legal costs matters, with a particular focus on Very High Cost Case (VHCC) work within Family proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and drafting bills of costs.
- Managing costs claims for Family, Court of Protection, and Criminal matters.
- Handling VHCC costs work within Family cases.
- Preparing schedules of costs, statements, and supporting documentation.
- Liaising with fee earners and external agencies to progress costs matters efficiently.
- Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and relevant costs procedures.
- Managing files accurately and meeting key deadlines.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working as a Costs Draftsman.
- Proven experience dealing with VHCC matters within Family law.
- Knowledge of Legal Aid costs procedures and billing.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and time management abilities.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.
