How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Employment Lawyer | 6+ PQE | Midlands | National Commercial Law Firm

If you are a qualified Employment Lawyer looking for high-quality work, genuine flexibility and the opportunity to advise some of the UK's best-known businesses, this could be an excellent next step.

We're working with a successful national law firm with a strong reputation for advising a diverse client base, from owner-managed businesses to major national and international organisations. The firm combines the quality of work and calibre of clients typically associated with larger city practices with the flexibility to be based from any of its Midlands offices, allowing lawyers to enjoy first-class work without compromising on location or lifestyle.

This is a firm that values substance over status. They're looking for lawyers with energy, initiative and commercial awareness, people who enjoy being close to clients, taking ownership, spotting opportunities and helping to drive the business forward.

Whether your background is at a leading international practice, a respected regional firm or a boutique, what matters most is the impact you've made and the value you'll bring to the team. The firm has an entrepreneurial culture where ability, attitude and ambition are recognised, creating an environment where driven lawyers can thrive.

    The Opportunity

Joining a highly regarded Employment team, you'll advise on a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters for an impressive client portfolio that includes well-known household brands and leading national retailers.

Working closely with a highly respected and approachable Partner, you'll benefit from excellent mentoring while enjoying significant client exposure and responsibility from day one.

This is an opportunity to develop your career within a team recognised for delivering pragmatic, commercially focused advice across a wide range of sectors.

    Why this opportunity stands out

    • Broad-ranging Employment law work with no narrow specialism.
    • Exposure to high-profile national clients and recognised household brands.
    • Work alongside a well-respected Partner with an excellent reputation in the market.
    • High-quality commercial work without the need to relocate to a major city.
    • Flexibility to be based from any of the firm's Midlands offices.
    • Entrepreneurial, supportive culture where initiative and performance are recognised.
    • Genuine opportunities for career progression within a growing national practice.

    About You

    • You will be an England & Wales qualified Employment Solicitor with around 6 years' PQE (applications from those with slightly more or less experience will also be considered).
    • You will enjoy building trusted client relationships, providing commercially focused advice and taking ownership of your work.
    • This role will suit someone who is proactive, personable and keen to play an active role in the continued success of a growing team.

Whether you're looking for access to a stronger client base, more varied work or a clearer route for progression, I would be delighted to discuss this opportunity in complete confidence.
