How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Reporting to the Board, this is a high-impact role for an ambitious Head of Trading or senior hands-on trader seeking progression towards board-level responsibility. The successful candidate will remain actively involved in buying and selling, while leading global trading activity, developing international supplier and customer relationships, driving margin performance and supporting strategic growth across key markets including West Africa, Asia and South America.

    • Office Based - North-East England
    • £150,000 - £175,000 per annum (DOE)
    • Frequent International Travel
    • Negotiable Performance Bonus + Excellent Benefits Package

Relocation support or visa sponsorship may be available for the right candidate.

Our client is a privately owned international trading group with turnover exceeding US $1 billion, operating across fisheries, aquaculture, agriculture, frozen proteins and emerging dry commodities. With offices in the UK, China and Spain, and ambitious plans for further international expansion, they are now seeking a commercially driven Head of Trading to help lead the next stage of global growth.

    Candidate Profile

    • A proven trader with direct experience in proteins and non-hedgeable commodities, ideally including frozen food, seafood, meat, poultry, pork, agriculture or comparable global markets.
    • This is not a purely strategic or desk-based leadership role; it requires someone who can trade, negotiate, read markets, manage margin exposure and make confident commercial decisions in environments where risk cannot simply be hedged away.
    • Commercially sharp, relationship-led, confident with P&L and margin delivery, and able to lead experienced traders with credibility.
    • This may suit a current Head of Trading, Senior Trader or trading-led commercial leader who is ready to broaden their global impact, take on greater strategic influence and progress towards board-level responsibility.

This is a rare opportunity to join a substantial, values-led international trading group with an excellent reputation for quality, reliability and integrity.
