How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    A leading public sector organisation is currently recruiting for an Employee Relations Adviser to join their People Operations team for a 6 month initial contract.


    The position is based in central London with hybrid working available (3 days per week in the office). The rate for the role will be £37 p/h umbrella (£28.47 PAYE)


    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join a high-performing team, providing expert employee relations advice across a large and complex organisation.


    About the Role


    As an Employee Relations Adviser, you will provide expert guidance and support to managers on a broad range of employee relations matters, ensuring decisions are fair, consistent and legally compliant. You'll manage a varied caseload, contribute to policy development and support the delivery of key employee relations initiatives across the organisation.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Provide advice and guidance to managers on disciplinary, grievance, capability, mediation, probation, attendance and long-term absence cases.
    • Manage and support escalated employee relations casework, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
    • Coach and support managers to build confidence and capability in handling people management issues.
    • Work closely with HR colleagues to ensure a consistent and customer-focused employee relations service.
    • Contribute to employee relations projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Prepare reports, briefings and management information to support senior stakeholders and decision-making forums.
    • Assist in the analysis of employee relations data and identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
    • Support the review and development of HR policies, ensuring they reflect current legislation and best practice.
    • Build positive relationships with managers, employees, staff networks and trade union representatives.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation, case law and emerging HR best practice.


    About You


    • CIPD qualified or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of HR knowledge through experience.
    • Experience working within a generalist HR or Employee Relations advisory role.
    • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and its practical application.
    • Proven experience managing a range of complex employee relations cases.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
    • Experience providing coaching and support to managers at varying levels of seniority.
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
    • A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem solving.
    • Experience producing reports, briefings and management information to support senior decision making.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and complex organisational environment.
