About Wilbe
Wilbe is the venture home for 12 million scientists. We back scientists and engineers from day zero. We train over a thousand scientists a year through our Build Weeks program, run lab and workspace infrastructure, and advocate for scientists everywhere under the Scientists First banner. Some of the most prolific scientist founders - from Proxima Fusion to Apoha - have started their journey with us when they were full-time researchers. The companies launched at Wilbe are now worth over $3.3bn. We are backed by exited founders, Bay Area executives, and European industry veterans.
The role
Wilbe generates ideas and plans faster than any core team can activate them. Your job is to be sent out ahead: take an idea or a plan and drive it one layer deeper, from concept to actionable. That means reaching out to the people who need to be involved, getting dates in diaries, preparing the contextual material that makes a first meeting or a decision possible, and closing the practical gaps between idea and execution.
Once a project is activated, delivery may come back to the core team, move to a partner, or occasionally stay with you. Then you're onto the next one. Think of it as rolling activation: a doer dispatched at whatever the group is pushing on that month.
The current slate spans events on the water, places and venues, media production, community programs, and a flagship gathering. We'll walk you through the specifics in the interview. What each project shares: each is early, moving fast, and needs someone to open doors, lock dates, and assemble the context that lets us decide and act.
How Wilbe builds
Everything here follows a pattern we've run since day one: intuition, scrappy experimentation, demand signal, productize, hand to a team. That loop has already shipped five products. Our platform started as manually answering the same questions scientists kept asking. Build Weeks started as a training course and became 52 weekly cohorts a year. Labs started as hosting founders and became a management agreement on an institutional landlord's building. Wilbe Stories started as filming founders nobody else was filming and became a format with a 10,000+ impressions on social media. The residency concept is in the loop right now.
The special projects are the next intuitions on that conveyor. You're being hired to run the experimentation-to-validation stretch: the part between "we should" and "it works."
What you get
Exposure that no graduate scheme will give you. You work directly with the co-founder and CEO every day, in the room and in the threads where decisions actually get made. You'll deal first-hand with founders, investors, institutional landlords, yacht clubs, venues, and media guests, and you'll see how a venture group takes an idea from intuition to shipped or killed product, repeatedly, across completely different domains. In three months you'll have opened doors, locked dates, and built materials for projects most operators never touch in a career, and you'll leave with a network across science, capital, property, sport, and media that scales from day one. If you convert, you'll have earned a seat in a firm you helped build.
Who you are
- Relentlessly organized. You keep ten threads alive without dropping one, and you close loops without being reminded.
- Bias to action. You default to "handled" over "how should I."
- An AI-native operator. You use AI tools as a daily force multiplier for drafting, research, scheduling, and getting more done than your headcount suggests.
- An eye for aesthetics and quality - the venue you pick, how an event is presented visually and run physically, how a space comes together.
- A context switcher who doesn't lose the thread. You can go from a venue conversation to a stakeholder map to a production run-of-show in one morning, and the quality of each stays high. Switching fields energizes you; precision is non-negotiable.
- Genuinely curious across worlds: music, spaces, design, cultures, people. You can hold your own in a room of different stakeholders, and relate to each on their terms.
- Commercially minded and outcome-driven. You care about what works, not what sounds good.
- A shameless chaser! Reporting up is table stakes; what we actually need is someone who hunts down the CEO for the decision, the signature, or the answer that unblocks the next move. If chasing makes you uncomfortable, this is not for you.
- A connector of dots. You reach out to anyone on the team to find the answer, the file, or the context you need, and you piece together what's already known across the group before reinventing it.
- Comfortable being the first contact. Much of this job is opening doors on Wilbe's behalf: cold and warm outreach done with judgment and polish.
- Discreet: you will see sensitive material and be around high-profile people.
- Bonus: experience in events, hospitality, sailing, production, or early-stage startups. Interest in science and the people who do it matters more than a science degree.
- Right to work in the UK required.
Timeline
- Starting ASAP. Full time for 3 months.
- London based, working from our offices in Shoreditch and White City. This is in-person by design.
- $3,000/month for the 3-month period; long-term comp discussed at conversion
- At the end of the 3 months, extension or a long-term hire when we're both ready. The role is designed to convert; the bar is performance.
