Ringway is seeking a Highway Tree Inspector to join our Gloucestershire Highways team, playing a vital role in protecting the travelling public and managing one of the UK's most significant tree health challenges. This is a specialist position focused on inspecting highway trees, identifying Ash Dieback-related defects, and helping to manage risk across the network.
The Role
As a Highway Tree Inspector, you will undertake detailed inspections of highway trees, with a particular focus on identifying and assessing the condition of ash trees affected by Ash Dieback. You will be responsible for recording findings, assessing risk, and ensuring inspections are accurately reported through the council's asset management systems.
Working closely with operational and project teams, you will also support the preparation of project management and Principal Designer documentation, helping to ensure works are delivered safely and in line with CDM requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed inspections of highway trees and woodland assets.
- Identify and assess Ash Dieback and associated tree safety risks.
- Record inspection findings and recommendations using asset management systems.
- Produce accurate reports and risk assessments.
- Support project planning activities and health & safety documentation.
- Work in accordance with CDM regulations and industry best practice.
- Assist with the ongoing management of Ringway's Ash Dieback programme.
About You
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- A minimum Level 3 Arboricultural qualification.
- Proven experience identifying and assessing Ash Dieback disease.
- Experience carrying out tree inspections and risk-based assessments.
- Knowledge of tree health, defects and disease management.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of health & safety and CDM regulations.
- A full UK driving licence.
Experience using Confirm or similar asset management systems would be advantageous.
