How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    QUANTITY SURVEYOR – LARGE-SCALE PROJECTS

    Permanent | Remote

Salary: €70,000–€90,000 per annum or local-currency equivalent, depending on experience

Occasional travel for office, client and project meetings

Copius Group is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team and support the successful delivery of multiple large scale construction and engineering projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.

This is a commercially influential position offering responsibility across the full project lifecycle. You will manage project costs, procurement, valuations, contractual matters, change control, forecasting and final accounts while providing clear and accurate commercial reporting to the Commercial Director.

The position is primarily remote and is open to experienced Quantity Surveyors based in the UK, Ireland or an eligible EU location. Occasional travel to Copius offices, client meetings and project locations will be required.

    The opportunity

You will support major electrical, mechanical and construction packages within demanding sectors such as data centres, power and energy, renewables, life sciences, industrial construction and mission-critical infrastructure.

You will work closely with operational teams while retaining the independence and commercial judgement required to protect project margin, challenge risk and ensure Copius maintains a strong contractual and financial position.

    Key responsibilities

    • Provide commercial and quantity surveying support across multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account.
    • Review tender documents, contracts, scopes of work, bills of quantities and other commercial information.
    • Identify contractual obligations, commercial risks, scope gaps and potential opportunities.
    • Prepare and maintain project budgets, cost plans, cash-flow forecasts and cost-value reconciliation reports.
    • Produce accurate monthly commercial reports for review by the Commercial Director.
    • Monitor committed costs, actual expenditure, forecast cost to complete, anticipated final cost and project margin.
    • Complete measurements and quantity take-offs where required.
    • Prepare enquiries for subcontractor and supplier packages.
    • Analyse quotations, conduct tender comparisons and support commercial negotiations.
    • Assist with the preparation and placement of subcontractor and supplier orders.
    • Prepare and submit client valuations, payment applications and supporting documentation.
    • Review subcontractor applications and make appropriate payment recommendations.
    • Manage variations and change control, ensuring instructions, quotations, records and approvals are properly maintained.
    • Prepare and negotiate variation accounts, loss and expense submissions and contractual claims where applicable.
    • Support the management of contractual notices, extensions of time and project correspondence.
    • Work closely with project managers to maintain accurate records and identify emerging commercial issues.
    • Build effective relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
    • Support commercial meetings, project reviews and risk reviews.
    • Prepare, negotiate and agree subcontractor, supplier and client final accounts.
    • Maintain robust commercial records and ensure compliance with company procedures.

    What we are looking for

    • Significant experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, engineering, M&E or specialist contracting.
    • Demonstrable commercial responsibility for substantial projects or work packages.
    • Strong experience in cost control, forecasting, procurement, valuations, variation management and final accounts.
    • Experience reviewing contracts and identifying commercial and contractual risk.
    • Ability to produce accurate monthly project reports for senior management.
    • Strong measurement and quantity take-off capabilities.
    • Experience engaging and negotiating with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
    • A clear understanding of how operational decisions affect project cost, cash flow and margin.
    • Strong numerical, analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage the commercial requirements of several projects or packages simultaneously.
    • Professional fluency in English.
    • Ability to work independently within a remote-first commercial team.
    • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for meetings.

A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates with substantial relevant experience and an alternative construction or engineering qualification will also be considered.

Working knowledge of standard forms of contract such as NEC, JCT or FIDIC would be advantageous. Membership of RICS, SCSI or another relevant professional body is desirable but not essential.

Experience within data centres, power generation, life sciences, renewables, heavy industrial, electrical or mechanical projects would be particularly valuable.

    What Copius Group offers

    • Salary of €70,000–€90,000 per annum or local-currency equivalent, depending on experience.
    • Permanent, full-time employment.
    • A remote-first working arrangement.
    • Commercial involvement in major projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
    • Direct reporting access to the Commercial Director.
    • A high-autonomy position with visibility across the full project lifecycle.
    • The opportunity to help develop commercial controls and best practice within an expanding international organisation.
    • A collaborative working environment built around integrity, accountability, safety, quality and teamwork.

The ability to travel periodically to Copius offices, client meetings and project locations is essential.
