ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR – LARGE SCALE PROJECTS

Copius Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support the tendering and pre-construction delivery of multiple large-scale projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
This is a key commercial position for an estimator who can take ownership of electrical tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission and operational handover. You will prepare accurate and competitive estimates, complete detailed take offs, engage with suppliers and subcontractors, assess commercial and technical risk and present clear tender recommendations to the Commercial Director.
The position is primarily remote and is open to suitably experienced candidates based in the UK, Ireland or an eligible EU location. Occasional attendance at a Copius office, client meeting or project location will be required.
The opportunity
You will work across technically complex electrical packages within sectors such as data centres, power and energy, renewables, life sciences, industrial construction and other mission critical environments.
You will have genuine ownership of your tenders, direct access to senior commercial decision makers and the opportunity to influence the projects Copius pursues and delivers.
Key responsibilities
- Manage electrical estimates and tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, clarification and handover.
- Review invitations to tender, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, scope documents and commercial requirements.
- Complete detailed electrical quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, BIM information and other tender documentation.
- Build comprehensive estimates covering labour, materials, plant, subcontract packages, preliminaries, overheads, risk and contingency.
- Issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors and obtain accurate, competitive quotations.
- Review, compare and normalise supplier and subcontractor proposals to confirm full scope coverage.
- Develop labour constants, material rates and project-specific pricing assumptions.
- Identify tender qualifications, exclusions, clarifications, commercial risks and value-engineering opportunities.
- Liaise closely with suppliers, subcontractors, procurement, design, operations, project management and commercial teams.
- Participate in pre-tender, mid-tender and final tender review meetings.
- Present pricing strategy, risk position and tender recommendations to the Commercial Director.
- Support post-tender clarifications and commercial negotiations.
- Produce clear tender summaries and handover documentation for the project delivery team following award.
- Maintain accurate estimating records, cost databases, supplier information and project benchmarking data.
- Support the continuous improvement of Copius Group’s estimating and tendering processes.
What we are looking for
- Strong experience working as an Electrical Estimator within construction, engineering, building services or electrical contracting.
- Demonstrable experience pricing substantial electrical packages on large-scale projects.
- Proven ability to produce detailed and accurate electrical take offs.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, labour requirements and material pricing.
- Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and tender documentation.
- Experience obtaining and commercially evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Good understanding of tender risk, contractual requirements, qualifications and exclusions.
- Strong numerical, analytical and commercial judgement.
- Ability to manage several tenders or workstreams simultaneously while meeting fixed submission deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and confidence presenting information to senior management.
- Ability to work effectively and independently in a remote environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for meetings.
An electrical trade background, HNC/HND, degree in Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience would be advantageous.
Experience within data centres, power generation, life sciences, renewables, heavy industrial or mission critical projects would be particularly valuable.
