How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Data Scientist, Fintech - Credit Risk

London, UK (Hybrid - 1 day in London)

We're hiring a Data Scientist to own the credit risk analytics behind a fast growing consumer lending business, built by a team of real thought leaders and innovators in Banking and Fintech. This is a highly innovative start-up which brings huge potential for the successful candidate.

This is a hands on role at the heart of the business, turning application, bureau and Open Banking data into the scorecards, policies and pricing that decide who gets lent to, how much, and at what price. You'll build and monitor the models driving those decisions, track portfolio performance through vintage and cohort analysis, and turn what you find into recommendations senior stakeholders actually act on.

    Required Skills:

    • 2+ Years of Experience in Data Science
    • Strong Python and SQL skills, comfortable building robust, reusable pipelines
    • Solid grounding in statistical and machine learning methods such as regression and classification
    • Background in credit risk analytics, data science or another quantitative role
    • A degree in Maths, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or quantitative Economics (or a different relevant subject)
    • Familiarity with credit bureau or Open Banking data is a bonus, not a requirement
    • Comfortable with ambiguity (alongside autonomy) and happy to get stuck in at a fast moving start up

You'll be working directly with application, credit bureau and Open Banking data, building dashboards and reporting for internal teams and external funders, and occasionally supporting manual underwriting on referred cases.

This is a fast paced, high-energy fintech start up who are keen to invest infinite time and teaching into a Data Scientist at the beginning part of thier career.

If you want genuine ownership over how a lending business makes its decisions, and to help build that from the ground up, apply within or get in touch for a confidential chat.
