We're working with a highly regarded AJ100 architectural practice to recruit a Freelance Midweight Interior Designer for an initial contract opportunity. This is an excellent chance to join a well-established, multidisciplinary design studio with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality workplace and commercial projects across the UK.
We're looking for a confident and technically capable interior designer with around 3–6 years' professional experience, who is comfortable supporting projects from concept through to delivery. You'll be joining a collaborative interiors team and will play a key role in producing design documentation, coordinating with consultants, and supporting client presentations.
The Role
As a Midweight Interior Designer, you'll work closely with senior designers and architects across a range of workplace and commercial fit-out projects, contributing to both the creative and technical delivery of schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend client meetings, workshops and project reviews where required.
- Assist in preparing presentation material and design documentation for client presentations.
- Coordinate with external consultants, suppliers and manufacturers throughout the design process.
- Produce high-quality interior design drawing packages, layouts and detailed design information.
- Prepare FF&E schedules, material palettes and specifications.
- Coordinate interior design packages alongside architectural and consultant information.
- Contribute to internal design reviews and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support the efficient organisation and delivery of project information throughout all design stages.
About You
You'll be a proactive and collaborative designer who enjoys working within a fast-paced studio environment and has a strong technical grounding.
Essential Experience
- Approximately 3–6 years' experience within interior design or interior architecture.
- Proven experience delivering commercial and workplace interior projects.
- Strong technical ability with experience producing accurate design documentation.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent communication, organisation and coordination skills.
- Comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary design teams.
Desirable
- Experience working within a BIM/Revit workflow.
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and workplace design standards.
- Experience preparing FF&E schedules, specifications and material selections.
- Previous experience within a multidisciplinary architectural or design practice.
