How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Assistant Headteacher (Head of College) – Specialist SEND School – South East London – September 2026

A highly respected independent specialist SEND school in South East London is seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher (Head of College) to lead its Post-16 provision from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the strategic direction of an expanding College supporting students aged 16-19+ with Autism and a range of additional learning needs within a nurturing, therapeutic environment.

This role would suit an ambitious SEND leader ready to take the next step into senior leadership, or an experienced Assistant Headteacher looking to lead and develop an innovative Post-16 provision.

Assistant Headteacher (Head of College) – What the School Offers
    • A genuine opportunity to shape and develop an expanding Post-16 provision
    • A collaborative Senior Leadership Team committed to innovation and inclusion
    • Small class sizes with access to specialist therapists and multidisciplinary professionals
    • Outstanding opportunities for strategic leadership and whole-school influence
    • Permanent, full-time leadership position from September 2026
Assistant Headteacher (Head of College) – What the Role Involves

As Assistant Headteacher (Head of College), you'll provide strategic leadership for the school's Post-16 provision, overseeing curriculum development, quality of education, EHCP implementation and personalised pathways into adulthood. You'll line manage College staff, drive teaching and learning, lead transition planning, develop accreditation and employability opportunities, and work closely with parents, local authorities and external agencies. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you'll play a key role in shaping whole-school improvement and maintaining outstanding outcomes for young people with SEND.

Assistant Headteacher (Head of College) – What the School is Looking For

The successful candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have significant experience teaching and leading within SEND. Previous curriculum leadership or senior leadership experience is essential, alongside a strong understanding of Post-16 pathways, EHCPs and inclusive education. The school is looking for an inspirational, forward-thinking leader who combines strategic vision with a child-centred approach and a commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes for every learner.

Please note, applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available. This is not a relocation opportunity.

Assistant Headteacher (Head of College) – Salary and Contract Info
