Financial Crime Compliance Officer (12-Month Contract) - London (Hybrid)
About the Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading international financial institution for an experienced Financial Crime Compliance Officer to join their UK Compliance team on a 12-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a compliance professional with strong experience in Financial Crime, AML, KYC, Sanctions, and Financial Crime Advisory within a global banking environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in advising the business on financial crime risks, supporting regulatory compliance, and strengthening the firm's financial crime framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Financial Crime Advisory support to the business on client onboarding, periodic reviews, and transaction-related escalations.
- Assess and mitigate financial crime risks relating to AML, KYC, Sanctions, PEPs, ABC, and reputational risk.
- Review and approve complex client files and financial crime risk assessments.
- Provide guidance to Front Office and Client Due Diligence teams on financial crime matters.
- Conduct enhanced due diligence and open-source investigations.
- Maintain client financial crime risk ratings and ensure accurate documentation.
- Support the development and enhancement of financial crime policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Deliver financial crime compliance training across the business.
- Monitor regulatory developments and implement changes where required.
- Produce management information and compliance reporting for senior management and governance committees.
- Support internal audits and regulatory requests.
Required Experience
- Proven experience within Financial Crime Compliance (2nd Line of Defence).
- Strong experience advising on AML, KYC, Sanctions, PEPs, ABC, and Financial Crime Risk.
- Experience conducting financial crime reviews, investigations, and client risk assessments.
- Strong knowledge of UK Financial Crime regulations and industry best practices.
- Experience working within an Investment Bank, Corporate Bank, or Global Financial Institution.
- Experience using Dow Jones RiskCenter, Factiva, or similar screening platforms.
- Excellent analytical, investigative, research, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
