The Opportunity
A well-regarded SME housebuilder based in Maidstone is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is a great opportunity to join a smaller, close-knit business where you'll have real visibility over projects from land purchase through to final account, rather than being one small part of a much bigger commercial machine.
You'll work closely with the Commercial Manager, Site Managers, and the wider technical team, taking ownership of cost control and procurement across a number of live residential developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost plans, budgets, and valuations across live residential sites
- Manage procurement of subcontractors and materials, including tendering and negotiation
- Produce and agree monthly valuations and cash flow forecasts
- Manage subcontractor accounts, including variations, final accounts, and dispute resolution
- Monitor site costs against budget, flagging risk early to the Commercial Manager
- Liaise with Site Managers to ensure commercial and construction teams are aligned
- Support the preparation of land appraisals and cost information at the acquisition stage
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within residential housebuilding
- Strong understanding of subcontractor procurement, valuations, and final accounts
- Comfortable working in a smaller, hands-on SME environment
- Confident communicator, able to work closely with site and commercial teams
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Experience with housebuilding-specific cost/procurement software
What's On Offer
- £65,000 salary
- Genuine autonomy and project visibility within an SME structure
- Pension and benefits package
- A stable, well-regarded local housebuilder with a strong reputation in Kent
