How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

    We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our award-winning National Highways contract team


    Working closely with the Commercial Manager, you'll be responsible for managing subcontract accounts, preparing valuations and claims, supporting cost control activities, and ensuring the successful commercial delivery of maintenance and response works across the network


    Key Responsibilities

    • Managing subcontractor accounts proactively, ensuring payment notices are issued on time and final accounts are agreed efficiently.
    • Preparing and submitting accurate valuations and claims through the client's Confirm system, including all supporting documentation.
    • Accurately measuring completed works using as-built information and site records in accordance with recognised methods of measurement.
    • Collaborating with operational teams and supply chain partners to gather evidence, support valuations and resolve client queries.
    • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities throughout the contract lifecycle.
    • Supporting and developing Assistant Quantity Surveyors and other members of the commercial team.
    • Contributing to improved commercial performance, efficiency savings and value generation for all stakeholders


    Candidate Profile

    • A Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering qualification, or significant relevant industry experience.
    • At least 4 years' experience within the construction industry.
    • Proven experience managing valuations, payment applications and variations.
    • Strong knowledge of standard methods of measurement (experience of MMHW would be advantageous).
    • Experience in rates build-up, cost control and commercial reporting.
    • The ability to prepare and analyse CVRs to improve both commercial and operational performance.
    • Experience working under NEC forms of contract (desirable).
