How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Events Lead

Location: London (Shoreditch) - in the office at least three days a week

    Salary: £28,000 - £32,000

    ABOUT US

Startup Coalition is an independent advocacy group that serves as the policy voice for technology-led start ups and scaleups in the UK. Startup Coalition was founded by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs and fights for a policy environment that enables early-stage British tech companies to grow, scale and compete globally.

We have over 4,000 startups in our network and have been instrumental in building proactive coalitions of businesses and investors on issues that are integral to the health of the UK's startup ecosystem. Our work has seen many successes, from the design and establishment of the Future Fund to the creation of new technology-focused visas, the raising of the SEIS investor and investee caps, and the expansion of R&D tax credits.

    JOB DETAILS

    • Run our events calendar end-to-end. You'll plan and deliver the logistics behind everything from intimate policy dinners to conference activations, including our Party Conference presence. That means booking venues, managing suppliers, coordinating catering and AV, and making sure every detail lands on the day.
    • Keep high volumes of output moving without dropping a ball. We run a packed calendar across Westminster and beyond, so you'll need to juggle multiple events at different stages at once, working fast and staying organised under pressure.
    • Build relationships that make events sing. From venues to caterers to partner organisations, you'll be the person keeping every moving part aligned and every stakeholder in the loop.
    • Own the guest experience. Managing invite lists, RSVPs, and on-the-day logistics so that founders, investors and policymakers all have a seamless experience at our events.
    • Chip in on everything else. We run a small operation, so everyone works together to deliver great policy work that helps achieve a policy environment that enables tech startups and scaleups to grow and scale effectively.

    EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

    This role is suitable for:

    • Someone who is highly organised, with a track record of running multiple events simultaneously without missing details.
    • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with high volumes of output and shifting priorities.
    • Someone who is calm under pressure and comfortable troubleshooting on the day of an event.
    • Someone who is a confident communicator, happy liaising with venues, suppliers, and senior stakeholders alike.
    • Someone who loves politics and technology, and wants their events work to support a broader policy mission.

    Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will be on a rolling basis. We reserve the right to interview and appoint before the deadline. The start date for the role is ASAP.
