How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you a Veterinary Surgeon looking for an exciting role with the opportunity to expand and develop your clinical skill set?

Here at Newport Veterinary Hospital we are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and caring Veterinary Surgeon to join our dedicated team on the Isle of Wight.

At CVS, we put our colleagues first, giving you the support you need to provide the best possible care. From clinical to non-clinical challenges, you'll always have the resources and teams alongside you. We'll be your biggest supporter it's in our nature.

With market leading learning, on the job training, and collaboration with skilled colleagues, you'll have the tools to grow whether you're building confidence early in your career or looking to deepen your expertise. From advancing in your current role to exploring new leadership or specialist pathways, we provide the support and opportunities to help you achieve your goals.

    The role

We welcome applications from any areas of interest. Especially those with surgical experience, a surgical bias or even exotics! This role involves working 2 weeks on then 2 weeks off. During your working weeks, you will work shifts between the hours of 8am-8pm.

Along with having the opportunity to join our dedicated veterinary team here at Newport Veterinary Hospital, you will also be encouraged to continue your professional development in practice.

We are true believers of learning and nurturing our vet talent and therefore offer structured support and development of clinical skills with the potential for support in gaining a fully funded certificate. You will be joining a team of certificate holders (or working towards) in Surgery, Cardiology, ECC, Internal Medicine and Dermatology. The IOW vet teams work collaboratively and contribute to Clinical Excellence projects, regular vet meetings, case reviews and dedicated CPD days held in-house for the team to learn and grow together.

    Life at Newport

Our RCVS accredited hospital houses five consult rooms, two surgery suites, in-house lab, ultrasound scanner, digital and dental x-rays, CT scanner and endoscopy. Our three branches each host three - four consult rooms, theatre, in-house labs and imaging suites. Each of these branch's feed into our main hospital for over-night care where our dedicated OOH team care for patients overnight.

    The benefits

At CVS, we know that care for our patients starts with dedicated people like you. That's why we invest in your growth and your future. When you join us, you'll get:
