How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Whether your background is editorial design, information design, newspapers or digital graphics, this team is looking for designers with a brilliant eye for clarity, layout and visual storytelling.

We're hiring two Infographic Designers to join a growing team creating graphics across both digital and print, working at the heart of one of the UK's busiest newsrooms.

You'll create everything from breaking news explainers and data visualisations through to graphics for the next day's newspaper, collaborating directly with reporters, editors and the wider visual storytelling team.

✔️ Ability to simplify complex information into clear, engaging visuals

✔️ Comfortable working under deadline in a fast-paced environment

✔️ Strong layout, typography and visual communication skills

✔️ Digital and print design experience (or the desire to learn print production)

    Why consider it?

🚀 Your work will be seen by millions of readers every single day

📰 Design for both one of the UK's biggest news websites and national print publication

📈 Join one of the few editorial design teams that's actively growing

🎨 Work on everything from breaking news to in-depth visual explainers

🏆 Become part of an award-winning visual storytelling team shaping the future of digital journalism

💡 A genuinely specialist role where great infographic designers are highly valued

If you're looking for a role where your design work has real impact, reaches a huge audience and challenges you to tell stories visually every single day, I'd love to speak with you!
