How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    🔬 Analytical Development Scientist — 12‑Month FTC

Life Sciences | HPLC Method Development | Analytical Capability Expansion

I’m partnering with a leading life sciences organisation as they look to appoint an Analytical Development Scientist to support the development of innovative diagnostic products. This role sits at the intersection of chemistry and microbiology, contributing directly to new product development, analytical method design, and the expansion of R&D capability.

This position is offered on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, with strong potential for extension or permanency.

    ✨ The Role

You’ll play a key part in developing new diagnostic products, optimising chemical formulations, and ensuring analytical methods meet regulatory and quality standards. You’ll also help bridge microbiological discovery with chemical formulation, supporting the progression of products from concept through to commercialisation.

    🔧 Key Responsibilities

    • Lead end‑to‑end HPLC method development, clearly articulating full project workflows from concept through validation.
    • Validate, operate and troubleshoot HPLC systems and wider analytical instrumentation.
    • Assess current analytical capability and expand the R&D equipment portfolio — identifying gaps, sourcing new instrumentation, implementing and validating equipment, and creating robust working protocols.
    • Develop, validate and embed analytical methods for characterising novel products and antibiotic content.
    • Optimise formulations and processes for improved stability, performance and cost‑effectiveness.
    • Prepare clear development, validation and test reports suitable for audit and regulatory review.
    • Maintain meticulous traceability and laboratory records.
    • Support training of laboratory staff in analytical techniques and equipment use.
    • Transfer analytical methods into routine QC operations.

    🎓 About You

    • BSc/MSc in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or closely related discipline.
    • Strong experience in HPLC method development and analytical troubleshooting.
    • Familiarity with GLP/GMP.
    • Interest in microbiology is advantageous.
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
    • Confident using a range of analytical equipment and MS packages.
