How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Full-Time, Permanent

Our client is a well-established specialist contractor operating across the construction sector, delivering refurbishment, demolition, enabling works, and licensed asbestos removal projects throughout the UK.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their team and play a key role in supporting project delivery across a diverse portfolio of works.

This is a field-based position requiring five days per week on site, with overnight stays as required. The successful candidate will be trusted to work autonomously, managing their own diary and prioritising site visits based on project risk levels and operational requirements.

Reporting into the Health & Safety Manager, you will work closely with operational teams, site managers, and senior stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained across all projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and confident Health & Safety professional who enjoys a visible presence on site and can provide practical support while driving a positive safety culture throughout the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide professional health and safety advice across multiple construction, refurbishment, and asbestos removal projects.
    • Plan and manage your own programme of site visits, prioritising support based on project complexity and risk profile.
    • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
    • Ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations and the Control of Asbestos Regulations.
    • Review risk assessments, method statements, plans of work, and other project documentation.
    • Support operational teams in identifying hazards and implementing effective control measures.
    • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and non-conformities, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
    • Deliver toolbox talks, behavioural safety initiatives, and health & safety briefings.
    • Monitor subcontractor compliance and performance.
    • Produce detailed reports and communicate findings effectively to operational and senior management teams.
    • Support the ongoing development and improvement of health and safety management systems and procedures.
    • Build strong working relationships with clients, site teams, and external stakeholders.

    Candidate Requirements

    Essential

    • Proven Health & Safety experience within the construction industry.
    • Experience working on refurbishment, demolition, or complex construction projects.
    • Excellent knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
    • Strong auditing, inspection, and incident investigation experience.
    • Ability to work independently and effectively manage your own workload.
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Full UK Driving Licence.
    • Willingness to travel extensively and stay away overnight when required.

    Desirable

    • NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
    • IOSH Membership (GradIOSH, CertIOSH, or CMIOSH).
    • Previous experience supporting licensed asbestos removal projects.
    • Knowledge of ISO 45001 management systems.
    • Experience working within a specialist contractor environment.

    What's On Offer

    • Salary of up to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
    • Company car or car allowance.
    • Pension scheme.
    • Ongoing professional development and training.
    • Support towards further professional qualifications and IOSH membership progression.
    • A highly autonomous role with the flexibility to manage your own diary and priorities.
    • The opportunity to work with a respected specialist contractor on challenging and varied projects across the UK.

If you are an experienced Health & Safety professional looking for a role that offers autonomy, responsibility, and the opportunity to make a genuine impact across high-risk construction and asbestos removal projects, we'd be keen to hear from you.
